The first edition of Brussels Jewellery Week begins on 29 April. Ten days brimming with exhibitions, workshops, inspiring places and creators. The event targets artists, collectors and an international public.
Together with Els Vansteelandt and Ingrid Adriaenssens, last year I went to Todi in Italy to attend an intensive workshop and benefit from immersion in the world of jewellery artist Giovanni Corvaja. We discovered one another’s work as well as our shared passion for the trade and our beloved noble metal, gold.
I instantly felt an affinity with Corvaja’s work: his artistic, formalistic and technical quest which is, as it were, a mission and a philosophy of life. He views his craftsmanship as a long journey of endless learning. During the workshop, I rediscovered my earlier fascination for working with ultra-fine gold thread and seeking the boundaries of the noble metal.
After our time in Italy, fantastic interaction and cross-pollination developed among Els, Ingrid and me, the results of which are to be exhibited in Galerie Els Vansteelandt during the Brussels Jewellery Week. We are each presenting a collection under the title ‘Fusion’, in which we incorporate the techniques we have learnt into our style and working method.
We look forward to seeing you at the opening on Friday, 29 April from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm in Galerie Els Vansteelandt Jewellery & Art – Rempart des Moines 15 – 1000 Brussels.
During Brussels Jewellery Week, the gallery is open from Thursday to Saturday, 12 noon to 6.30 pm.
On Sunday, 1 May, the opening hours are 1.00 pm to 6.30 pm.
Brussels Jewellery Week runs from 29 April to 8 May.
